East Tennessee State University’s (ETSU) College of Clinical & Rehabilitative Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Chair, Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, a 12 month tenure track position at the rank of Associate/Full Professor. ETSU is a Carnegie classified doctoral/research intensive institution, with a diverse student body of 15,000+ students. The Department of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology is part of ETSU’s Academic Health Science Center, which includes the Quillen College of Medicine, the Gatton School of Pharmacy, and the Colleges of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences, Public Health and Nursing. ETSU is in the heart of Northeast Tennessee’s medical center, which includes hospitals and clinics associated with a state-of-the-art Veteran’s Administration Hospital and the regional Ballad Health System. The Department of ASLP is located in the rapidly growing College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences (CCRHS). The Department presently consists of 15 full-time internationally recognized faculty and clinical faculty along with an additional 10 speech-language pathology and audiology faculty at the Mountain Home Veterans Medical Center. The Department offers a M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology, AuD in Audiology, and undergraduate minors in Communication Sciences and Disorders and American Sign Language. The Department Chair accepts responsibility for the following functions, as determined in conjunction with the Dean of the CCRHS:
Facilitate a collegial department environment to support and encourage faculty excellence in the traditional academic areas of teaching, research, and service.
Effectively collaborate and encourage interfacing of academic programs within the college and university.
Contribute to the CCRHS Leadership Team working collaboratively with the Dean and other unit leaders to support the college and university missions.
Support the research agenda of the department, college and university.
Promote interprofessional education on behalf of the department.
Provide leadership for curricular development, maintenance of accreditation, planning, revision, evaluation, and implementation of programs within the department.
Monitor, manage and strategically plan the departmental budget.
Advance the University’s mission of a student-centered community of learning in providing the highest level of clinical and rehabilitative care.
Contribute toward university and departmental initiatives to develop innovative programs to foster new discovery and collaborative research.
Provide administrative oversight to the department’s clinical operations.
Ph.D. in Communication Sciencesand Disorders
At least 3 years of prior experience in higher education program administration
Distinguished record of research/scholarship including experience maintaining a program of independent and collaborative research
Record of teaching, research, service and leadership commensurate with appointment at the rank of associate or full Professor (the area of research is open to all areas within speech, language and audiology)
Eligible for professionallicensure (SLP or Audiology) in the State of Tennessee.
Leadership experiencein state and/or national-level professional organizations.
