The University of Missouri Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is pleased to announce a new full-time position for a speech-language pathologist to join our growing laryngology practice in an academic, tertiary referral setting. Successful candidates will have experience in assessment and management of voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in professional voice or vocal performance and in singing voice therapy. The voice SLP will also work with the laryngologist in an academic capacity by participating in clinical research projects, supervising SLP students through the Department of Communication Science and Disorders, and having opportunities for local outreach and to present at local, regional, and national meetings. Experience in an interdisciplinary model is preferred.
Ideal candidates will have obtained an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and must be eligible for Missouri state licensure. Experience in the evaluation and treatment of voice disorders through both a strong academic background and additional training in a Clinical Fellowship in voice is desirable. Past experience should include specific skills in videostroboscopy (fiberoptic and rigid) assessment and interpretation, computerized acoustic and aerodynamic voice analysis, motor-speech examination, FEES and VFSS performance and interpretation, respiratory retraining, cough suppression, and voice therapy, and skill in current research-based voice therapy. Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of experience beyond fellowship.
